School
New “Improvements”
Each year i go to school its the same old thing. “We have added this this and this to better you child’s learning environment.” The next few statements that come are a load of bull. The united states as a whole has lowered its standards in learning so much, its ridiculous. I mean, the new act no child left behind is one thing. Though when your in a class with 30 other kids and because one kids being slow the other 29 are held back? I don’t know about you but i don’t see the logic. We spend so much money a year on special needs students in America. So much money is granted to them, so its sad how they get all this money yet we cant seem to keep the schools we have running efficiently enough. Personally i think the u.s would save so much more money if they flat out built specific schools, built for those people around there needs. It would make so much more sense.
Music …..Teachers go bye bye
Well i found out last week that the music division in 2 out of our 3 high schools is cut to part time. Due to that choice I’ve lost my choir teacher. She cant work just part time but has gotten a chance to go and work with elementary students. We all will miss her dearly here but she has to think about many things for herself as well. She cant forget us, to many are to crazy to forget. Many choices come up in life and you have to choose, this gave her a new opportunity and i wish her the best at what ever comes her way. I love music and i love the teachers I’ve known to help me with that. All i can say is good luck and i wish you the best in all your decisions. I respect your right to choose!
Bye Bye Music?
Well we have so much debt in the USA, but we are trying to help other countries, come on we need to help our selves. So along with this debt comes cuts, in all divisions one including schools. In my district if you do not have more then 10 in a class the class is shut down. But over all they are trying to get rid of our music division completely. I don’t know about you but i enjoy music. In high school there are different group es, choir, band, drama, science and more they are trying to cut all that out becuase “its not important to the growth of our students.” Well news flash did you know that music is the only activity that will use both sides of your brain? Bet you didn’t. Some people are in love with there music with drama and band, and extra sciences. You think schools are getting bad becuase of behavior right now? Take away the few things we like in a day and it will get worse. Choir for me keeps me sane, i love to sing and i love preforming and being with my friends in an environment I’m happy with for an hour or so a day it gives me a break. Every student needs that break what ever that class be. So those budget cuts that are being taken into consideration need to be revised to protect our music and drama divisions.
Knight in Shining Armor
School isnt easy, was never meant to be all that easy. Some classes were better at and some not so well, and others are gonna show us up all the time. Life circles around us and school was all a part of the plan. Through the ups and down of life we seem to get through it all no matter what. Love, even that throws us for a loop we hear i love you, but somthing always warns us be carefull you never know whats around the corner and then boom it hits you, then everything comes crashing down, and you only wish you could have that knight in shining armor there to save you. Over all in your heart you know hes not coming, but it will get better. Some one will come around pick you off your feet(theoreticaly) and love you like you have deserved. But its going to take a long time to get there, tis why patience is a value. You cant always expect that what a guy says is the truth, hell a lot of the time they just want to “get in your pants” but ya know we go through the breakups and the make ups and we all end up just fine. Just wait through all of it, and in the end you will find your speciasl knight, he just might not show right away.
Highschool is a drag
Get your credits get your credits!!!! That’s all school is, a detention hall to ship kids off to. When i sit in school i listen to a teacher, i do the work im told to do, but in the next year i wont remember half of the things i was taught, know why? it was useless!!!!! We go to school 6-7 hours a day, then come home. We go back and even then half of the things we were taught don’t stick, few things i’ve learned in school, minus math, have been useful. I enjoy going to school for some things, though our school division is slowly taking them all away. Choir something i love, a passion to me is slowly dwindling away from us. Why send a kid to school with no outlet. Students spend more time at school then they do their own house minus the sleeping time. Why are we going to sit there when we have nothing to look forward to. Our school division doesn’t think that our extra curricular activities are useful, but ya know what they will support all the sports! god forbid we not have to spend 100$ to travel to a football game. Some of us just are not the football type, so when we enjoy our choir, band, or family and consumer sciences. They could all be taken away due to lack of funds thanks to the wonderful people on our county, but ya know we cant fault them not completely.
Ranting …………
Ever been around people you just know don’t like you, and you really don’t like the. But unfortunately your stuck in the same building and nothing you can do about it. And they just don’t know when to leave you the hell alone, they always wanna find something to get under your skin but you try and ignore it! but it always ends up getting to you and its so annoying. Then you Finally say something to harsh for what it should have been, and you end up the trouble maker in the whole situation! not this other person, damn i hate people like that……..
Will 94 million make a difference?
Ever had to sit in a class with 40 other students? What a mess that is. The U.S Department of Education says we have about 53.1 million students in school. They predict by 2010 55 million, it cannot get much worse but by 2030 60 million students will be enrolled, 60 million! According to Colorado Alliance for Immigration Reform by the year 2100 we will have 94 million students in school across the United States. (http://www.cairco.org/edu/education.html)
Teachers are one person affected by this growth. There nights are filled with grading papers, with a class of so many students students.
“45 students times five short answers equals almost seven hours of work,” a teacher said. I don’t know about you, but I could never do that much work in one night. Even when she is team teaching her classes the time that was able to be spent at her desk grading papers or working on other things for the class are now spent working with students and keeping everyone on track, it’s not a productive environment for teacher or student.
“Students don’t get the attention they need.” she said. Some students need a bit more attention than others, which can be harder to get in the larger classes.
“[Classes] would be much more efficient with 25-30 [students],” she said. The teachers would be able to get work back faster, so the students would get feedback faster and understand where they went wrong when it’s fresher in their mind.
They have two classes of 35+ students. “It’s much harder to make sure they are all working,” he said. All that time spent trying to get them together must be a whole lot of extra work, that shouldn’t be needed.
“[You] can’t really tell if the class sizes have affected the grades [of students],” he said , “The make-up of the school has changed.” When students change the school changes, so really no one can say, though I believe many students would be better off in a smaller classes verses a larger class.
They spend a lot of extra time working to create a learning environment fit for so many students to. Honestly, if the Colorado Alliance for Immigration Reform is right, the students in school during 2100 are going to be worse off than we ever will be. The school system and government need to work on our schools and the amount of teachers they have, as well as space. If they don’t then how well will those teachers be able to teach? How well will those students be able to focus, work, and learn?
School….
Ok school is starting all around and .. were happy and excited, though the fist thing that comes into anyone starting school on their first day is “what am i going to wear” …. so many choices … and ya know you make the wrong choice once ur doomed from the start so you think about and you have no clue. you call and ask people what they are doing and get ides then ding! ya got it. You throw on what fits you ! and you love it!! be yourself this year ins school
its better then bein the majority.
Schools and Money
OK schools always ask us for money right? Well our school systems latest “investment” in a program called AR (accelerated reader) so we can “improve” childrens reading and attention. They have invested about 1.1 million on this new system. They are counting these tests as part of the students grades, now for the students that are already at a higher reading level they are being forced to read these books and take their tests on those book specified to be AR, now why i ask are the students being pressured into this? Why must those who read sufficiently be forced to do more then they already do? Why must they be given three different grades that are counted in the over all grade of the students. So again i ask why must our schools sit there and ask us for money from the tax payers pocket while they go off and spend 1.1 million dollars on a program that is on many terms inconvenient and unnecessary.
